Mission

The Jess Roskelley Foundation exists to promote public projects and outdoor activities that will benefit generations to come and provide access to the wild places cherished by Jess, while preserving his legacy as a lifelong Spokane, Washington native and elite international alpinist.

“He will be remembered not just as one of the best mountaineers of a generation but one of the best we have ever encountered in the sport.” -The North Face

Jess Roskelley committed his life to being a professional alpinist and left a legacy as one of the greatest alpinists of his time. He loved climbing and as an alpinist had climbed Everest in 2003 — the youngest to do so at the time. Jess possessed a multi-faceted ability which found him at home on ice, big walls and multi day expeditions. But he also kept a close grip on his “real” home, Spokane, WA. Jess Roskelley was a lifelong resident of the Spokane area and could often be found donating his time to local climbing clubs, events, and even giving away his past season gear to Spokane’s homeless community. He balanced a constant dedication to progression on the mountain with a one of a kind sense of humor and a heart as big as the mountains he climbed.
